How can you get more clients from your website? These three simple things can bring you more sales calls, potential clients, AND bring you more business, if you do them correctly!
1. Multiple Calls to Action
The first thing you need to have on your site is multiple calls to action in at least three places on your website.
You should have a call to action on your homepage inviting people to sign up for a discovery call or a free download.
Ideally, your call to action should be above the fold.
What does that mean? Well, it’s an old newspaper term and it actually just means something you can see on a website without scrolling. That might not be possible if you’re looking at mobile, but on desktop it should be above the fold if possible.
The second option is to have a call to action below any blog post that you put on the site.
Some email marketing systems will have a plug-in that you can insert in WordPress (see the bottom of this post). You can choose which opt-in you want to put at the bottom of a blog post, or you can add it using a link or using some code.
The third multiple call to action that you need to have on your site is an exit intent pop-up.
An exit intent pop-up is an opt-in box that it doesn’t pop up or display until somebody goes to close the site.
Exit intent pop-ups are really, really handy because they’re a last, “Hey, before you go, why don’t you download this,” reminder to your readers.
Exit intent pop-ups are not as “in-your-face” as regular pop-ups, which can be really annoying when they show up, especially when you’ve only been on the site for a few seconds. Also, traditional pop-ups really don’t work because people haven’t had a chance to check you out.
2. Contact Information
The second thing that your site needs is to have your contact information prominintely displayed.
People need a way to get in touch with you. There are three different places that I like to put contact information.
The first place to find your contact information is on a contact page. A lot of people will just look in the menu and see if you have a contact page where they can fill out a form or book a discovery call, which is a free call to get to know you a little bit better before they hire you.
The second place you need to display your contact information is in the footer of your blog or website.
Sometimes, just an email address or a phone number listed on every page in the footer is all you need.
The third place to display your contact information is a discovery call form that you can insert at the bottom of each page.
On my site, StillRiseMarketing.com, we have a button that is on the bottom of every page. Potential clients can easily click and book a call with us.
3. Show Your Personality
Finally, the last thing you need on your site in order to get more clients is to show your personality.
Have an about page that’s not just your LinkedIn bio. Include some information about your family, where you’re from, what you like to do, and share a picture if you want to.
It’s always good to have a picture of yourself, but if you have a picture with your family, that can be really nice, too.
People want to work with people. They don’t want to work with a robot, so it’s great to put some personality on your About page.
It’s also really helpful if you have a couple of testimonials that show that you’ve worked with other people and that your clients enjoy the process of working with you.
If you’re new and just starting out, maybe you can trade some services in exchange for some testimonials just to have something up on your site.
But as you get more experience, it’s important to collect testimonials from your clients and have a way to display them for people to see.
So those are the three things you need to display on your site in order to get more customers:
- You need multiple calls to action.
- You need contact information.
- You need to show your personality.
