Small Business Resources

All my favorite small business resources!

Small Biz Marketplace

Resources for your website

You can purchase your domain through GoDaddy for as little as $.99. I paid $12.99 for, super simple to purchase and maintain. I’ve made tons more purchases since I started and each time is simple and easy. (BTW, I need to stop buying domains…)

This is the program to use for a blog you would like to monetize or need to be able to completely customize. If you sign up for hosting with Siteground you can install WordPress in three seconds!

This is my host of choice. Their customer service is amazing! If you are already with a host and want to move to Siteground they will help you every step of the way. I was with another popular hosting service and kept having problems with my site going down and being super slow. Since moving to Siteground I have had zero problems!

WordPress Themes

Studiopress/Genesis Framework

When you start a blog on WordPress you have a few free themes available to you. If you are serious about creating a blog as a business you will want to upgrade to a paid theme and there is no better framework than Genesis. It is easy to use and there are so many wonderful themes that work off of it.

Restored 316

These feminine designs work off of the Genesis Framework and will bring your blog to a whole new level!

Pretty Darn Cute Designs

Super cute themes and excellent customer service! Based on the Genesis Framework so they are very flexible and easy to work with.

Resources for Social Media and Email Marketing

This is who I am using for my e-mail list. I love how easy it is to schedule email sequences, set up automations and tag subscribers.

List Love Master Course

This course changed the way I used my entire email list. I love how helpful Jennifer is to her students, she doesn’t hold anything back. If you need help with your list, this course will set you on the right path!

This is my choice for scheduling pins on Pinterest. I like having a button on Chrome for easy scheduling no matter where I am on the internet. Tailwind is approved by Pinterest too!

Graphics and Photos

*sigh* I am so in love with Canva. This is what I use for all this blogs graphics and I use it for many of my VA clients to make posters, business cards, and graphics. I finally signed up for the business account and will never go back.

I finally gave in a bought a subscription to a stock photo site. I am really impressed with the value of StockUnlimited! $85 for a lifetime subscription and they have tons of photos and vectors for every topic I have looked under. You really can’t go wrong at that price.

If you struggle with graphic design grab this Template Toolkit from Kara Fidd. There are over 200 different templates included! Use coupon code EMMA to get 10% off!

Productivity and Organization

Dubsado changed my life. It is the best all in one CRM out there. Keep track of clients, bill them, send them contract, emails, proposals and so much more! If you are looking for a way to keep everything organized for your client work, check out Dubsado.

Do you need to do your own small business accounting and having trouble keeping up with everything? Enter Wave, a free online accounting app. So easy to use, you can bill clients from it and accept credit card payments! I use it for my VA business and this blog, cause you can track more than one account. Yep, it really does everything.

I love AirTable! It is an organization tool that is spreadsheet-based. There are a ton of different ways to customize it. I track blog post ideas, my personal budget, daily tasks and so much more!

I searched all over for an easy time tracker for my virtual assistant business. Toggl has a simple interface and can integrate with many other programs online to help you track time. I added the Chrome button and now I can just click and start working. It will also ask me if I have been dormant for a while whether it needs to go back to my last activity, no more trying to figure out when I stopped working!
